Pics from the Oregon-Washington Game

This is tailgating dedication...Notice the other cars in the parking lot

Here is the breakfast feast from which we grubbed (and I cooked)!

I sat by myself for awhile, but thankfully some brave folks (Andy, Corey, Monica & Carol) came out despite the cold, clouds and the rain.

Small showing from the second-year MBA's. Here we are: Nick, Jason, Kevin, Sarah and Andy

Although most were late, a good showing from the rookie MBA class...

We had some enemy infiltrators to the tailgate...The Husky Fans.

Our Italian friend Felix even showed up with his broken umbrella...

Give it up to the halftime tailgaters

Holy geez...I am sorry

I feel terrible for not writing a lot sooner. The last couple weeks have been pretty boring though. I am definitely ready for school to start. I was a volunteer this whole week for the next crop of first year MBA's orientation. It was great to meet all the new people.

Tonight was the USC-Oregon football game. I honestly believed the Ducks could have defeated the Trojans, but they totally self-destructed. I guess it is up to my ASU Sun Devils next week to finally bring them down next week. GO DEVILS!!!

I really wasn't feeling going out tonight (even as it is the last night before school starts), especially after the beating the Ducks took. I have not been feeling ready to really rock at all actually. I think I had a good solo walk home from the bar tonight. I got a lot of great exercise in, as well as a killer burrito from Burrito Boy!

I promise to add pics of today's crazy tailgater here in the next day or so. Keep tuned...The EUG is back in session.

Back in the EUG

It has been awhile since I was last on here. 2,400 miles later, I am back in beautiful Eugene, Oregon.

After Colorado, I made a 12-hour drive to Mesa, Arizona to stay with my parents for a few days. If you have ever driven south on I-25 thru New Mexico, then you know that it could be the worst drive ever. It is not quite a desert, not grassy, mountains are too far in the distance to see and it is hot as hell.

Anyway, I got to see an ASU home football game. That's good. Then I left...

I made the 20-hour drive, from Mesa to Eugene in one shot. I was making great time, but a fire off of I-5 closed the freeway and forced me to go about 200 miles out of the way in backtracking to find an alternative route. I arrived in Eugene at 4:30 am, and I slept in the parking lot of my old apartment complex, until I could go to my friend's apartment to crash.

I now find myself back in Eugene, but with no place to live. I had a very unsuccessful day of apartment hunting yesterday, and I am worried there are very few places left to live in the EUG. Maybe I will end up like a true Eugene Hippy and sleep in my car and wear birkenstocks all day. I am already half way there...

Signing off from Colorado Springs

"This is it...Don't get scared." Not that I totally agree with Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone, but there is a little truth in that.

Today is my last day here as a member of the 2005 USOC Summer Intern Class. I am not one to usually open up, but I will miss the good times and the bad. Although I am ready to go back to the EUG (Eugene, Oregon sounds so much cooler that way), there is a part of me that will have a hard time letting go. Seeing everyone slowly leave here, taking their home-made door nametags off their doors as a ritual sign of departure can really get to a man. I have so many great memories and stories from here. This internship has been an incredible experience that is unlike anything I will ever do again. With that, I am counting back my Top 25 memories of the internship here. I have so many, but these 25 are the best of the best of the best.

The List

25. Seeing Batman Begins with the office, while our stuff was being moved

24. Winning most enthusiastic bowler at the USOC marketing bowling challenge

23. Getting asked specifically to work a function (I got to meet Jennie Finch and Mike Eruzione there, but being singled out by executives to work it because what I do meant a lot)

22. My first speeding ticket...And a big one at that

21. Intense NCAA 2006 matches against Danny, late at night

20. Austin telling me it looked as though I had lost weight...I think I am a heffer

19. Flower cooking Asian food on the grill

18. Spotting Tim and his secret girlfriend in Manitou Springs with Lauren, Mary and Lindsay

17. OC Jeff's "Secret roommate discovery" that we all had to see

16. Owning the Beruit (Beer Pong) table with Matt at OC Jeff's party

15. Guarding Danny in a 45-minute defensive stale mate in intern basketball, that we won!

14. Sarah's "two margarita night" that turned into a drunken wasteland at the Finish Line

13. The trip with Nikki to the BBQ cookout...I ate so much and the town was beautiful

12. The Coors Brewery tour that ended in a lot of free beers

11. Getting kicked out of the Boulder lake for the frisbee throwing

10. The impromptu Boulder trip. What a great night! I loved the Huka bar!

9. The Ft. Collins Brewery tour trip. So many beers...Hitch-hiking home in Ft. Collins on some random dude's Vespa, while I was barefoot

8. The Six Flags trip with Jon, Jeff and Jen. The 4 J's. Getting Jen on the rollercoasters..."Fun everywhere."

7. Getting kicked out of the Finish Line at 4:40 p.m. on a Saturday, after nine pitchers of beer

6. The first night at Rum Bay, when we took over the elevated stage on the Dance Floor

5. The "Denver Trip." The Budget Host, the Parrotheads, the piano bar, all of it...

4. The night at Southside Johnny's when EVERYONE went and we saw the Martini Shot Band

3. The three weeks I got up early to exercise in the morning...I know I can do it again

2. My Dad visiting me. I was so happy to have him visit me while I was here.

AND NUMBER ONE...

1. The Friendships. Never have I quickly made so many life-long friendships as I have in my 3 months here. You guys and gals are an amazing group.

Honorable mention goes to:

- Danny singing the Darkness at the Finish Line
- The Finish Line in general
- OC Jeff saying, "Look no further. You found it."
- Kacie moaning very sexually
- The music at Old Chicago on Matt and Austin's goodbye (They played Maxwell's "Somebody's watching me." COME ON NOW! That is a one-hit wonder classic)

I had my goodbye lunch at the Keg in Manitou Springs. I had a Colorado Buffalo burger in a total mom-n-pop dive place. It was awesome, and I said my sad goodbyes to the department.

I could have never guessed in my wildest dreams what this summer was going to be like. I don't think I would have traded this for the world. Tonight will be my final trip to the Finish Line and Southside Johnny's. I feel I need to go out like I came in...Singing a song at the Finish Line and drinking big beers at Southside Johnny's. I have had a blast, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Best of luck to all my intern posse, and next time we meet again, "We'll just have a few drinks."

Final hump day report

Before we begin, I made this photo to prove why all young men should strive to be successful athletes...I am partial to the cycling team. Who knew hot girls flock to dudes on bicycles?

Congrats go out to Levi Leipheimer who is the real winner here! He won the the Tour de Germany.

Tonight, we say goodbye to two more of the intern group. Austin (Queen B-A-N-A-N-A-S) and Matt depart early tomorrow morning, and they'll be missed. You could always count on those two for a smile and a good time. That will leave only myself, Shep, Jeff, Jon, Jen and Georgia. Kelli and Karen don't count in the countdown because they are summer/fall interns, and Lindsay got a full-time job. She'll be here the longest.

I ate myself sick yesterday ate Matt & I's going away department lunch. It was a sweet Italian buffett. Pizza, wings, salad, more pizza and yet more pizza...

Kelli and I also went to see the movie Red Eye, with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy. It was decent. I was hoping for more suspense - intenseness. The movie butter popcorn made my stomach hurt. I'll skip my next snack when I go to the movies next time!

I am down to 2 and 1/2 days left here...I am ready to move on, but it will be hard to let go. I have never had as much fun or made so many amazing friends so quickly. My last blog from the CO Springs will post Friday afternoon include my 25 best things of the summer...Stay tuned!
